What’s in a name? It could be a lot if it is Tombstone, Wyatt Earp, Fort Huachuca Buffalo Soldiers, Rex Allen, Kartchner or even Cochise.
When Cochise County decided to revise its website to better serve the community, the overall site name was a big part of our project: co.cochise.az.us was a mouthful to say or type, and cochisecounty.com just didn’t fit our singleness of purpose. We finally decided that cochise.az.gov was short, simple and to the point--and it was in compliance with dot-gov naming standards.
Our County government agency is full of myriad programs and services available to the public. We are people helping people over the phone, on the road, in meeting rooms, boardrooms, community backyards and on yards yet to be developed. To take that help one step further, we decided it was high time to be able to help people online so we refurbished our website.
After performing thorough research using analytical tools to determine just who site visitors are, we interviewed offices and departments on what they wanted to put out to the public. Working together, we developed a dynamic site that could be updated and edited directly by all of the County's offices and departments. We also followed along with the Research-Based Web Design & Usability Guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. One of the best features of our new site is its ability to be modified on the fly to suit the needs of the public that uses it. This is just the beginning for our site. Keep a lookout for new upcoming features and enhancements.
So welcome to the new website, cochise.az.gov. We hope our new site will be easier to find, easier to navigate and most importantly, easier to do business with Cochise County. Here are some of the new features that we have developed to serve the residents, visitors and business seekers to Cochise County.

- A county events annual calendar for county meetings and happenings with separate link to county tourism calendar
- Photo headers that change each time the screen is refreshed or reopened capturing the area's beauty and diversity
