Search and Rescue

Ground Search Team

Ground search teams consist of members who perform searches for missing individuals throughout Cochise County, All members of Search and Rescue are involved in this team.

Technical Rescue Team

Technical Rescue Teams handle rescues that deal with hazardous terrain and is responsible of handling haul and lowers systems to retrieve fallen and injured hikers. Technical Rescues are people intensive and  the team is always looking for more people.

Helicopter team

A few volunteers and coordinators handle the risks of helicopter work. Repelling from the helicopter and short hauling injured individuals out of the terrain Cochise County is known for. Certification is performed every six months to enable the team to work with DPS.

Swift Water/Dive Team

Dive and Swift water teams take on the challenge when flash flood season arrives.

Mounted Team

Mounted is used in large terrain searches. This teams members must complete a sensory training course. The riders and horse or mule must complete the course to participate in the mounted side of Search and Rescue.

ATV Team

ATV teams are used when a large amount of area needs to be covered in a search. Training is provided by the Cochise County Sheriffs Department and all are encouraged to become certified.

K9 Search Team

K-9 Search Teams are used in the recovery of victims through the use of a canines ability to catch the scent of the victim and the handlers ability to follow the path.
