The Cochise County Treasurer’s Seal was established in 1881 when the county was first organized in the Arizona Territory and has never been changed. It is a most unusual crossed keys over an exact copy of a $20 gold piece with wording added to the outer ring - Seal of Treasurer * Cochise Co. State of Arizona. Per Arizona Law the Board of Supervisors, Treasurer and Recorder shall each have a seal of office bearing the name of the County and the office. The seal is placed on deeds and important documents. Some office seals are very simple, with the name of the office, County and State, while others have cactus, animals and mottoes. President Lincoln was the President that signed the bill that created the Territory of Arizona thus in the Arizona Constitution his image was designated for the court seal.
