Victim notification involves providing notice to victims of delinquent acts (via telephone, email, or letter) and of upcoming court hearing dates, as required by Arizona law. In addition, victim notification services include providing victims with written material that identifies and explains the Victims' Bill of Rights, the court hearings and proceedings, and the process for receiving restitution for economic losses directly related to the delinquent act.
Rights
As a victim:
- You have the right, upon request, to receive notice of certain proceedings related to the defendant who committed a crime against you.
- You also have the right to opt out of receiving notifications or to choose which notifications you'd like to receive. You have an absolute right to receive these notifications, but you are not obligated to participate in this service.
