Cochise County School Superintendent Joins State Board of Education

On March 21, 2022, Governor Doug Ducey selected seven education leaders to join the State Board of Education.

The State Board of Education was created by the Arizona Constitution with a mission to develop successful citizens through robust public education. The State Board oversees the public school system by establishing policies, setting courses of study, and gathering data on pupil performance.

We are proud to announce that our esteemed Cochise County School Superintendent, Jacqui Clay was one of the seven selected to serve on the board. She is currently in her 6th year serving as the Cochise County School Superintendent. Clay has been a teacher, an assistant principal, director of career and technical education(CTE), Army Command Sergeant Major for 25 years, and is currently also serving as Superintendent of a dropout recovery program, Cochise County Accommodation School District – New Crossroad Academy for students ages 16-22. Her Mission and Vision are to create pathways through collaboration with stakeholders to assist students in achieving their educational and personal goals leading to a fulfilling future. In this position, she seeks to create other partnerships through collaborations to further assist school districts, students, and educators.

We are proud and happy to have Mrs. Clay represent Cochise County in this capacity. She believes in taking an active role in the education of our children and policies. She is passionate about the education system, our students, and our community. We are fortunate to have such a high-caliber representative with integrity and passion to represent Cochise County. Once again, Congratulations Mrs. Clay.
