Cochise County Health and Social Services would like to remind Cochise County residents of the various behavioral and mental health resources available to all community members. Cochise County Public Health leaders share the following statement encouraging community members to seek out behavioral services if needed.
“In the wake of recent tragedies of violence across the United States, we want to take a moment to reflect on the innocent lives lost and express our deepest sympathies to everyone affected. All too often we go about our daily lives unaware of individuals around us who are struggling with destructive thoughts of self-harm or harming others. Many others struggle with the sadness and sense of helplessness that these events evoke.
Everyone reacts differently to horrific actions and while some may feel sadness for only a few days, others may experience a significant burden over these events. Our capacity to be compassionate and recognize that we all react differently is what makes our communities unique.
If you are struggling, we encourage you to reach out to your support network whether it is family, friends, or community members. Check in with your children - are they showing signs of stress or concern about returning to school? The first step is recognizing signs of stress, changes in behaviors, or decline in overall wellbeing.
We recognize that behavioral and mental health struggles have many causes, and we hope those struggling can find these resources useful. The resources listed below are available to Cochise County community members. Additionally, online behavioral health services are becoming more and more accessible. If you or someone you know is experiencing mental stress, one of these organizations may be able to help you.”
