During their Annual Conference in Fountain Hills on Friday October 20, the Arizona Library Association awarded Cochise County’s Sharon Arthur with this year’s Outstanding Volunteer Coordinator award. Sharon recently retired after five years as branch manager at Sunsites Library. Acknowledging Friday’s honor, she said:

“At Sunsites Library, some volunteers help run the library, while others help run the programs. They are the heart of our community service. I envision them as ambassadors; they represent an opportunity to build community – to bring neighbors together in a setting that not only nurtures democracy and equality but supports our humanity as well.”

Since Sharon was unable to accept the award in person, Stephanie Fulton from Huachuca City Library attended to accept it on her behalf, accompanied by an enthusiastic cheering section from Cochise County, including Cochise County’s library director Amadee Ricketts, who expressed her sincere appreciation for Sharon’s leadership in her former position, and very best wishes for her retirement.
