BISBEE, Ariz. (June 9, 2021) – Cochise County launches a new and improved county website (https://www.cochise.az.gov/) with a vibrant and user-friendly look and feel. Residents and community members may now easily access county information, resources, and forms through the redesigned website.
The website redesign idea was introduced by the Board of Supervisors as part of the county’s 2021-2024 Strategic Plan. Priority 5 of the strategic plan is to maintain efficient administration practices, which includes a redesign of the county website to improve communication with the public and share helpful resources.
The newly updated webpage allows users to easily find what they are looking for, such as pay a bill online, access Board of Supervisors meeting agendas and minutes, find permit information, and locate other informative county documents and resources.
Cochise County IT department has worked diligently on the project since the web creation kickoff in December 2020. CivicPlus, a web design company with vast expertise in government websites, was strategically selected to lead the design, implement best practices and ensure the new site meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance requirements.
“I am very pleased with the countywide collaboration from all the departments and elected officials to help make this website the core system for providing residents and businesses access to county services and information. Specifically, Marisol Renteria, our Database Web Specialist who has worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition.” says Joe Casey, Chief Information Officer. “We will continue to seek more ways to use technology, such as the website, to provide exceptional service and support to Cochise County citizens.
The new site also includes a much more robust search engine of keywords, which means users can utilize the search bar to find relatively anything they are looking for, much more easily than before. In addition to the improved information database, the new webpage is more visual and includes easy-to-find buttons and graphics for users to navigate to other sites. Users can easily navigate to sites such as the Sheriff’s site and the Court Services sites by following the buttons found on the main page.
The vibrant colors utilized throughout the website each represent a unique part of Cochise Country. Copper represents the county’s mining history and sunsets, Turquoise for Bisbee Blue, Merlot for Willcox’s fruitful Wine Country and Dark Blue to represent Cochise County’s beautiful night skies. The color palette will remain consistent throughout all county communication materials shared online.
Like all new processes, the new county website will undergo tweaks and updates in the beginning stages of the launch, to ensure all features and resources are accurately accessible. Users are encouraged to provide feedback of their user experience by filling out the Website Feedback form located on the main page.
