During Tuesday's regular Board meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved several agenda items including contract and funding agreements, to keep County business moving forward.
Among the agenda items discussed, Supervisor Peggy Judd was appointed as a board member of the Southeastern Arizona Community Action Program (SEACAP), a private non-profit social service agency serving Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz Counties in providing low-income families with the resources needed to achieve self-sufficiency. This appointment allows SEACAP to receive the federal funding necessary to continue providing services and resources to families in need. Learn more about SEACAP.
An agreement between the Arizona Department of Homeland Security and Cochise County Office of Emergency Services was passed by the Board, in support of a local Live-Fire Train-the-Trainer Program for Cochise County fire departments. This grant opportunity is a critical component to firefighter training efforts within Cochise County because it allows local and smaller fire departments to receive more accessible and adequate training, which they may have otherwise not been able to receive. The training program was proposed and will be led by Fry Fire District.
In other news, a contract for the remodel of the Recorder’s and Treasurer’s offices at 1415 W. Melody Lane was unanimously approved by the Board. The offices will undergo security enhancements as recommended by a completed fraud assessment. The Board had previously approved the project during the County budget process, and now both offices will move forward with redevelopment.
