County Formalizes Partnership with the City of Douglas In Advancing the Douglas Commercial Port of Entry

The Douglas Two-Port Solution project advances forward after receiving $400 million in Federal Government funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The City of Douglas along with Cochise County and several stakeholder partners have collaborated in making this project a reality and are moving full speed ahead.

To keep the project moving forward, the Board of Supervisors today approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Cochise County and the City of Douglas.

Although construction of the Port of Entry is being led by U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the County and City will formally work together on the coordination of funding and in establishing the utilities necessary for the development of the commercial port of entry.

"It is important for the City and County to work together on this major project that has an economic impact on the entire county. This MOU demonstrates the collaboration for future funding partners as well as for grant opportunities," said Sharon Gilman, Associate County Administrator.
