COVID-19 Weekly Update – Monday March 8, 2021

  • Saturday, March 6: Fry Fire District point of dispensing (POD) event held at Buena High School administered 712 COVID-19 vaccines to the Cochise community.
  • To date, Cochise County has administered 34,488 COVID-19 vaccines to community members.
  • Exclusive 65 and older vaccine events are now available: In addition to regular POD events, there will be closed POD events specific for people who are 65 and older and still trying to register for a vaccine appointment. Call the ADHS hotline 1-844-542-8201 to register for a 65 and older POD event.
  • New Hybrid Phase Chart – Cochise County has implemented a new phase chart.
    • Prioritization by Age: Cochise County will follow the Hybrid Phased approach recommended by ADHS.
    • Prioritization by Essential Worker: Cochise County will follow the Hybrid Phased approach recommended by ADHS.


  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine is open to “Frontline Essential Workers”
    • “Frontline Essential Workers” are eligible to receive the Janssen vaccine (one dose vaccine). See new phase chart to learn who qualifies as a ‘Frontline Essential Worker.”
    • People who are 55 and older may also register to receive the Janssen vaccine, if preferred.
    • The two-dose vaccine is still recommended for those 55 and older.
  • The Moderna vaccine is currently only open to 55 and older, and previous Phase 1A and Prioritized 1B groups.

  1. ADHS: Register through the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) online portal or hotline at 1-844-542-8201.

    • You can also call (520) 586-2261 to register and answer pre-screening questions. Registration is mandatory. Appointments fill quickly and are currently fully booked 1-2 weeks out, and the current waiting list is lengthy.
  • Copper Queen Community Hospital
    • CQCH utilizes the ADHS registration portal linked above to register for clinics. However, individuals may call the following numbers for information and to be added to their waiting lists: Bisbee: 520-432-2042 and Douglas: 520-364-7659.
